Wired vs WIFI for your monitoring system
Last modified on March 9, 2020
Inverters and other solar energy equipment are, more and more, equipped with internet monitoring. this creates a number of benefits including:
- Remote monitoring – track your system performance from anywhere;
- Data logging – full historical record of production and other operating parameters;
- Email alerts – if a fault is encountered an email alert can be issued to instigate action
Most of these systems can be connected to your home LAN via wired or wireless technology. Wireless offers the ease of no new wires installed and is consistent with the wide variety of wireless devices appearing in the home.
However, wired connections are much more reliable than wireless and we strongly recommend wired connections wherever possible.
